Root canal therapy
A Root canal is a common procedure. The aim of root canal treatment is to repair and save a tooth by removing the nerve and pulp from the centre of the tooth, and then cleaning and sealing the tooth.
Without treatment, it's possible that the tooth would become infected and abscesses may form.
Symptoms can include sharp pain in your teeth and/or gums, prolonged sensitivity to hold or cold, or discolouration of the tooth. To find out whether your symptoms are indicating the need for a root canal, contact us for an examination.
Inside the tooth is a fine space called the root canal. The root canal contains the dental pulp which consists of nerves and blood vessels. If the dental pulp becomes diseased or dies, a toothache or an abscess may occur. In the past these problem teeth were extracted but now your dentist can offer you root canal treatment to care for these teeth.
