Veneers and crowns

help to improve the look of chipped or discoloured teeth

Veneers are thin shells which are fixed to the front of your tooth. They can be used to give new shape to chipped or damaged teeth, to fill gaps between teeth and to improve the colour of discoloured teeth. There are two types of veneer - porcelain and composite.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain is a very durable material that mimics natural tooth enamel. The natural properties of porcelain reflect light similarly to how your natural teeth do. Porcelain veneers last for more than 10 years making them a good long-term option.

Composite veneers

Composite veneers are also called direct veneers, or chair side veneers. They are an alternative to porcelain veneers for less damaged teeth. Made from a composite material which is shaped to fit your teeth they are a more affordable alternative to porcelain.
If your existing teeth are generally healthy and strong but do not look great, then veneers can be a good alternative to crowns and implants. For more damaged teeth, these other procedures can be used for cosmetic purposes to close up gaps and improve your smile as well as improving tooth function. Crowns replace large pieces of lost or damaged teeth while implants can be used to replace lost teeth while still having the look and feel of natural teeth.
